TAYLOR Hall, known as The Hall of Halls at UWI Mona celebrated its 70th anniversary with a week-long series of events from October 2 to 9 and emphasized that for the 75 years that The UWI has been operating - for 70 of those years, Taylor Hall has been there as a key part of The UWI and of Mona.
The celebrations kicked off on October 2 with a church service and the annual Taylor Hall Olympics. On October 3 there was a documentary screening, showcasing the beginnings of Taylor Hall and its history to the present. A health fair and a games night were the highlights of October 4th. A Founders Day event with the award-winning Taylor Hall chorale in performance and a Tayorites Benefit Concert was held on October 5th and a Ring Road Parade and float parade along with a commuters' social were the focus on the 6th, with a Big Tree Lyme on the 7th. There was a family fun day where past alumni and students came together on the 8th and the celebrations culminated on October 9 with a prostate cancer outreach event which was a joint project with the Georgia Prostate Coalition Board, led by the Taylor Hall Student Services Development Director Mr Atol Hamilton. Well known Taylorites over the years include: social influencer Krystal Tomlinson; Olympians Hansle Parchment and Candice McLeod; Ralph Gonsalves, the current prime minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines; former Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Kamla Persad-Bissessar and Jamaican politician Lisa Hanna.
