The University of the West Indies’ Global Institute for Climate Smart and Resilient Development (GICSRD) led an important side event at the 2023 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (UNFCCC COP28). Additionally, The UWI has a pioneering Master of Science in Climate Studies, the first and only programme in the Caribbean. The GICSRD COP event targeted Caribbean delegates and attendees and highlighted the GISCRD’s work and promoted coordination and networking around climate action.

And The UWI’s pioneering Master of Science (MSc) in Climate Studies is the first and only programme of its kind in the Caribbean. This innovative programme comes at a crucial time, addressing the pressing global issue of climate change, with a special focus on Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Additionally, the programme aims to address the growing need for experts in the field of climate science and provide innovative solutions to climate-related challenges.
