"One UWI, One Alumni Family"

The UWI Open Campus Belize UWIAA Chapter Hosts the Pelican Saturday Market

The UWIAA Belize Chapter, through their Pelican Saturday Market, spotlights the businesses and innovations of UWI graduates, as well as others, in order to raise awareness and increase engagement amongst alumni, as well as the general population in Belize City. Vendors are asked to donate 5% of their sales to the UWI Global Giving Scholarship Fund for Open Campus students and their donations usually exceed 5%.

On October 29, 2022 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. there will be a special edition of the Pelican Saturday Market: Spooky October!

The Pelican Saturday market is a space for small businesses to promote their products. While the UWIAA Belize Chapter encourages our alumni to participate, they also have non-alumni vendors. The market is every other month. It is held at the Open Campus Belize Site Grounds usually in the morning, however the October Market will be from 11 am to 4 pm local time.

What is exciting about this market is that most of the vendors are new to this avenue of self promotion. Visitors are excited to learn about new small businesses and to discover locally made products and services. !5 or more vendors participate, who offer visitors to the market everything from sustainable shopping, food and beverages, jewelry, novelty items and even services like counselling and mindfulness practice.

The UWIAA Belize Chapter is very happy that their Pelican Saturday Market is becoming well known and that it supports not only alumni entrepreneurs/vendors, but also gives philanthropic support through its donations to the UWI Global Giving Scholarship Fund for Open Campus students.
