Congrats to UWI Grad Dr Momeda Deen who has been appointed as Academic Dean of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians UK, starting her term on 1st August 2024. Prior to taking up the position as Academic Dean, she held a number of Faculty posts including Deputy Chief Examiner Diploma in Occupational Medicine (DOccMed), Lead for the Diploma exam writing committee, Clinical Lead for the new OSCE exams for Membership of Faculty of Occupational Medicine (MFOM), Committee Member for the MFOM advisory panel and has been an Examiner for both exams for a number of years. She is also involved in the Royal College of Physicians Ireland Faculty of Occupational Medicine examinations, both with the Licentiateship and the Membership exams.
Momeda obtained a Bachelor of Sciences (Hon) Degree from the UWI St Augustine campus, before embarking on her dental degree (Doctor of Dental Surgery) and medical degree (Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery) both from the UWI Mt Hope campus. She then went to the UK to pursue post graduate studies in Maxillofacial Surgery but shortened her aspirations due to health and family reasons. Following a career break, she then pursued a career in Occupational Medicine, gaining her Certificate of Completion of Training in 2015. We are proud of her achievements and confident she will excel in her new appointment.
