"One UWI, One Alumni Family"

In memoriam of her service to The UWI Mona as former Senior Public Relations Manager and as a mentor to students, alumni and staff

Rest Well June Degia!!!

It was with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of Mrs. June Veronica Degia on June 2nd, 2023. We at The University of the West Indies (UWI) mourn with her daughter, family members, and their immediate and wider circle our sincere condolences and hope that the tremendous outpouring of affection will help to sustain them in their time of loss.

Mrs. Degia joined The University of the West Indies, Mona in 1983 as an Assistant Public Relations Officer in the Registry - Public Relations (now Marketing, Recruitment & Communications Office (MaRComm) and was later promoted to Public Relations Officer in 2011. She continued in faithful service to the university until her retirement in 2017. Mrs. Degia was a mentor to many students, now alumni of the UWI Mona, and remained a constant supporter of their endeavors as graduates. Thank you Mrs. Degia, your legacy will live on through the lives of those you impacted.
